Familiars are companions of the peasant. They follow him everywhere and activate special effects based on the chosen familiar.
They level up to a maximum of 3 as the player progresses in each run. Levels do not carry over runs. All Familiars have different requirements to gain experience points (XP), though all of them will get extra XP upon entering a new floor except for Goldmine 1: 20 XP on The Goldmines' floors, 40 XP on Delvemore Dungeon floors, and 60 XP on Halls of Din's floors. XP gain can be tripled by possessing the Cosmic Egg relic or drinking the Biscuits potion. Both effects stack.
